As you get ready to change your wardrobe to dresses and shorts, what can you do to ensure that exposure does not backfire on you?
Water is your best friend
It should be your best friend every season, but doubly so when temperatures are high. Water not only flushes out toxins from your body through urine and sweat, it keeps your skin supple and radiant by ensuring moisture balance that can be easily lost under the testing rays of the sun. A lot of people carry bottles along with them while many pay no regard to it. 8 glasses a day is what is popularly recommended.
Sounds fancy but exfoliation is nothing but the act of scrubbing with polishing agents. What does exfoliation do? It removes dead skin cells that pile up on your skin everyday. Paleness in the summer is mainly attributed to layers of skin debris that do not allow your skin to breathe. Exfoliate once a week with a natural and gentle exfoliating scrub. Keep in mind that over-exfoliating can cause your skin to get bruised: one-two times a week is what dermatologists suggest. Exfoliating works best when gently rubbed in circular motions, and is a sure-shot way of brightening up your skin.
The lighter, the better
Although body butters are intense and more luxurious on the body the fact is they sit on your skin for a long time before they are absorbed. Contrarily, lotions prove to be lighter on the skin – just what the doctor ordered for the summer. Lotions come with a higher content of water, easily sinking into your skin leaving you feeling non-sticky. The best time to apply body lotion is right after a shower so that the body can seal in all the moisture it was fed. A refreshing fruity lotion is summer in a bottle!
Keep yourself refreshed with toner
Toners are reckoned as coolants for the face. Spray on some rosewater toner between office hours to look instantly refreshed and ready to roll again. Imagine toners as boosts of hydration that pump up your skin. One of the biggest pain points of summer is oil secretion in open pores that lead to outbursts on the face. Toners not only rejuvenate your skin but close open pores to prevent oil accumulation.
You cannot afford to forget sunscreen
This is such an obvious point when we speak of skin care that we thought twice before putting it up. But the number of people that forget this simple step is shameful. ALWAYS keep sunblock in your bag, even on overcast days. The sun may be hidden but its UV rays are all around you. Why do we insist on keeping a sun-screen in your bag at all times? Because applying it once does not cut it; you need to slather it on every two hours for the effect to sustain.
