Wherewerewe?

It’s good to be back. I cannot really justify the hiatus — but if you must know — it was either because I was down with H1N1 or was away trolling cyberspace writing fake reviews and starting flame wars.

It’s been over a month since the last blog post and I of course feel very guilty for disappointing all the regular Flipkart Blog readers. Yes, all 27 of you. Yes, especially the 7 of you who do not work at Flipkart. Ok, fine … you too, MOM. But a lot has happened. For one, the promo code BBF09 has expired and it’s good to know that a lot of you got your money’s worth from it (literally!). Hang on, I’ll just bullet it out:

(in no particular order of importance)

a> The discount coupon code BBF09 has expired, and a lot of you have been requesting for something new to start off the year. I did bring it up with one of the top brass, who in his melodramatic mood said “Let them eat cake!”. (I just made that up. I’m sorry …).

Officially, no coupon code as yet. If we do let one out the bag, you’ll be the first to know.

b> The team has expanded. And I mean, EXPANDED. I can bluff my way through, but all of you new guys … I’m sorry, I really can’t seem to retain your names. I think we’re close to a 100 people now …. oh wait, I know who knows …

c>HR Lady Mugdha! … and when she first came in, someone took me aside and said, “You know who she is? Your worst nightmare.” We’ll see about that.

Yes, we now have a motley crew of Headhunters, Recruiters and HR people. If you’d love to work with us, here’s a handy little Careers Page with all the Current Job Openings At Flipkart. Flipkart salary? No, that’s not on that page.

And Omniprasan doesn’t know anything about it either.
.

.
.

I told you, didn’t I?

d> We’ve got a Cappuccino-Espresso machine at the office. Yes, I am as disappointed as Anna (the tea guy), but what can you do — we are turning into Web 2.0

e> We’ve also gathered loads of Fans on Facebook and 550 odd Followers on Twitter. You’re missing the party? Join in!

We don’t spam. Never.

Some minor under-the-hood tweaks are also underway:

f> The monumental search task has begun, so no more embarrassing results when you search for Douglas Adams On Flipkart.

If you’re wondering what was embarrassing, head right over to the comment on Ankur’s Blog and step this way to buy the book that is sure to have you hooked.

g> We have also managed to sneak in a Flipkart Affiliate Program.

If you were thinking of starting your own biggest Indian online bookstore in India to buy books online in India, maybe you can put that on the back-burner and start a blog with our Affiliate Program instead? No overheads and bigger margins too!

Give it a thought.

h> Oh yeah, we are also almost done with the Flipkart Gift Certificate / Voucher. Just a bit of nip and tuck, and that should be out too. You can now gift the Flipkart voucher to any random person at all, maybe even yourself!

i> Plus we’ve added a few new sources from overseas and a whole lot of regional language books. Hindi, Kannada and Tamil, mostly. Once we’re done cataloguing and figuring out what all those squiggly characters mean, they should be up on the site.

j> Some of us have also Been Busy Busting Butts in Bombay. Flipkart Mumbai should be open for business by the time you read this, so that’s one more notch on our bedpost.

k> I usually prefer not to mix my Professional from my Personal, but seeing as how it’s 4:30am and I’m sitting in my shorts in the office, what the hey.

l> Running out of things to say here, but since you’ve read all the way down to l>, I can’t disappoint you.

“The unmarried Flipkart founder is getting married anytime now, and the married Flipkart founder just had a baby boy!”

lmL.

Rock on.

Why the $%^& you guys are not replying to any of the queries regarding affiliate program. Please be clear that you started it only to get more revenue for yourself.
Its the worst affiliate program I have ever seen.

In next two days. Reviews will be out on most popular sites.

Flipkart guys, your doing a great work. I am not a regular visitor but I searched for latest updates. I visited your site for the last month. This one month gap you updated many deals. Really nice, keep it up. It was the best online business program. Thank you.
