It’s a heartening fact that a lot of people blog about us, twitter about us, link to us and to the books we have. “PR People”, as some naysayers have them dubbed…in the derogatory sense too. But I’ll pick that bone later. More importantly:
One of the Twurls (Truncated Twitter Urls) pointed at us the other day was by this epicurean blogger. The post is self explanatory, Oneofagrind’s 30 Day No Sugar Challenge. The carrots at the end of the tunnel happened to be Small Batch Baking and Molecular Gastronomy.
I thought out loud - “We should sponsor this thing” - and Sachin (Flipkart co-founder), who was sitting next to me remarked “What?” ( … and then got a call and was occupied elsewhere). Don’t know about you, but that’s a green-light in my book! I sent the young lady an email … and that was it. The pundits call it guerilla marketing, I call it a whim.
Evidently, there’s no “T and C” or fine-print. Once I publish this, the Bansals are going to have a word or two with me, I presume. Laissez-faire and this is what happens.
They will admonish: “What’s sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander!”
I will plead: “Is there any use crying over spilt milk?”
They will slander: “You are a bad egg, a bad apple”
Have I flown from the frying pan into the fire? Is my goose cooked?
That’s not the point. Wish the young lady luck!

Nice Social Approach by FlipKart…. better than Cleartrip which I admire….
Bansals will be happy to have you… not as a goose in their kitchen
Did you know you gave away the last available copy (in the whole world, yes) of one of these books?
Hey Tapas,
I have been reading your blogs and I must say, you certainly know to play with words.
